New Semester, New Start

It is now officially 2nd semester and you are all starting with a clean slate.

Today we are going to begin developing our formal project proposals, doing some preliminary research, and checking out the rubrics.

As a reminder, your week 2 GrammarFlip was due when you came to class today. Don't forget about this. 30pts./wk adds up fast.

It is important that you use correct MLA format for citing sources over the course of this project. Here is the link to Purdue Owl to help you will all things MLA and a cheat sheet to help you.

Tuesday, January 19

This is the last week of the semester. Any make-up work needs to be turned in on Google Classroom and by filling out this form, no later that Friday, Jan. 22. I will not accept any make-up work for any reason after that day.

This week we are wrapping up NaNoWrimo. We will peer edit the rest of the week. Your final story is due Friday, Jan. 22. Because it is the end of the semester, I cannot accept it late.

Today will be a work day. You have several assignments you can work on.

1. Finish your BookTrack for your 6 second story. BookTracks are due on Thursday at the end of the period. You will have time on Thursday to finish up.

Day 2 of Blogging:
I love seeing all the creativity that is going into your blogs. I can't wait to begin reading and commenting.

The first 10 min. of class will be for you to blog or work on GrammarFlip (starting today).

Here is the Grammar Flip Schedule. I have also added a calendar to this blog so that you can keep track of when Grammar Flip (GF) is due. All of your writing goes on your GrammarFlip Schedule document.  Remember that we do not officially begin until next week, so anything you do this week, will get you ahead. Good luck and have fun.

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome back. I'm looking forward to a great 2016.

Today we are all about blogs. You are going to create a blog on Blogger and begin your blogging challenge. Here is the assignment that is also available on Google Classroom.

The rules for the blogging challenge is simple:

Take/use an interesting photo - Your photo can be recent or older. It can be related to school or not. Fridays will be reserved for a 20 Time photo.
* Tell us where the photo came from - Did you take it? Did someone else?
* Write something to go along with the photo - You could tell a story about the photo or something else that is on your mind related to the photo.
* End with a Question - Get your readers thinking about your post. These question should help to start a discussion in your comments section.

* Write every day and have fun - You will look back on this at the end of 2016 and remember what was going on daily.

Blog Entry #1
For your first blog entry, please tell us a little about yourself and what you hope to gain from blogging. Then write three goals that you have for the new year. One should academic and one should be personal, the third can be anything you want it to be. Don't forget to include a picture and tell us where it came from.
For an example, you can take a look at my blog.
Most importantly, have fun.
