Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead is holiday celebrated in central and southern Mexico during the chilly days of November 1 & 2. They believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31, and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.

For more information, check out this website.

Class Agenda:

I have given you access to all of the stories left for this unit. Your job is to choose two and complete the playlist for that reading. We are going to begin a writing assignment and the more you've read, the easier it will be for you to write.

Homework:
You are only required to complete two assignments, but you are welcome to read more, even if you don''t do the entire playlist. You need to have your two complete by Friday.

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

Wednesday, February 3

We have a few things going on for the new semester.

1. Blogging - you need to have a blog post that includes a picture or video at least 3x a week. This is a little less than what we started with at the beginning of January. Friday's blog post needs to be about  your 20% Project.

2. GrammarFlip - You have three lessons to complete per week plus anything that you need to redo. Once you have fixed mistakes on any assignments you need to redo, please highlight the lesson and write "redone" so I know I need to regrade.

3. Membean - Vocabulary development. You need to complete 30 minutes per week in at least 2 sittings (no more than 15 min. at a time). Your cut off time each week is 11:59 pm every Tuesday night. You will have a small quiz at the beginning of the period every Wednesday.

Today you will calibrate your vocabulary level on Membean. Try to be as accurate and honest as possible, or you will end up in low level and you will be bored.

Class Codes:
Per. 1 - P2SQCPX
Per. 3 - P2SQDJ8
Per. 6 - P2SQDGQ
Per. 7 - P2SQ9RQ

Reminder:
20% Topic Proposals are due on Friday at the end of the period.

Also, be sure to turn in your Infographic assignment. TODAY!!!!  Like, Right Now.

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome back. I'm looking forward to a great 2016.

Today we are all about blogs. You are going to create a blog on Blogger and begin your blogging challenge. Here is the assignment that is also available on Google Classroom.

The rules for the blogging challenge is simple:

Take/use an interesting photo - Your photo can be recent or older. It can be related to school or not. Fridays will be reserved for a 20 Time photo.
* Tell us where the photo came from - Did you take it? Did someone else?
* Write something to go along with the photo - You could tell a story about the photo or something else that is on your mind related to the photo.
* End with a Question - Get your readers thinking about your post. These question should help to start a discussion in your comments section.

* Write every day and have fun - You will look back on this at the end of 2016 and remember what was going on daily.

Blog Entry #1
For your first blog entry, please tell us a little about yourself and what you hope to gain from blogging. Then write three goals that you have for the new year. One should academic and one should be personal, the third can be anything you want it to be. Don't forget to include a picture and tell us where it came from.
For an example, you can take a look at my blog.
Most importantly, have fun.
